Botanical Printmaking at Manchester Art Gallery
Join me, Amy Quinn, for a fun and creative evening of Botanical Printmaking at Manchester Art Gallery. This hands-on workshop will teach you how to create beautiful prints inspired by nature using traditional relief printmaking techniques.
You will be shown different types of flora found in the UK, and how to dry, press, and preserve your own plants. All materials will be provided for you to create your very own series of botanical artworks.
Flora for printing has been foraged using The Woodland Trust's Responsible Foraging Guidelines, but feel free to bring your own flowers and leaves too!
In this two-hour workshop, you will create a series of botanical prints and bookmarks, onto recycled coloured card and FSC certified cartridge paper, using plastic-free printing inks. If desired, you could create some botanical printed Christmas cards! By the end of the workshop, you will have learnt the skills to continue this mindful creative practice at home.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this event is perfect for anyone looking to unleash their creativity and learn a new skill. Suitable for all abilities and the perfect activity for some mid-week mindfulness.
Whilst it’s unlikely, please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting mucky - I’d advise against any white clothing!

“Amy contacted me to collaborate with her on a local upcoming exhibition at Station South. I provided some flower and plant stems for her to use to print within her artwork. Our businesses closely align as we are both passionate about sustainability and the healing powers of nature. Amy’s artwork is beautiful and she is a very skilled craftsperson. She has been an absolute dream to work with and I'm really excited for the exhibition.”
